Women’s Circus offers free open training for Women’s Circus current training members and circus professionals of a marginalised gender thank to the support of Maribyrnong City Council.
We have a weekly dedicated open training session on Sundays from 10:30am – 1:30pm for both our member and circus professionals of a marginalised gender. You’ll experience stability, routine and uninterrupted focus with these consistent dedicated sessions, offering the chance to expand your circus practice or simply connect more deeply with your fellow Women’s Circus members and circus community. There may be other open training session throughout terms, so keep an eye on the schedule for the latest updates.
By coming to open training, you can share skills, knowledge, connect and work on your own physical and creative practice in a shared space. You will have to self-manage the space and your needs with support of the Women’s Circus Venue Supervisor.

From 10 July 2023 through to 31 January of 2025, we were thrilled to run our Space Connect program supported by Creative Victoria, providing free rehearsal space and open training sessions for both our members and circus professionals of all genders. We were able to support 125 artists with rehearsal space, and 43 members and 65 artists with open training, as well as offer financial support to enable engagement in the program and improve access.
Space Connect was a vital investment by Creative Victoria supporting the Victorian circus sector, making a significant impact on artists’ practice and the sustainability of independent companies. Women’s Circus is proud to have partnered with Creative Victoria on this program to create positive, lasting and reverberating impact for individuals, communities and our organisation.
